Reese Johnson Signs NHL Entry Level Contract with the Chicago Blackhawks

For Immediate Release -

Penticton, BC (Canada) - Kaizen Sports & Entertainment Ltd. is pleased to announce that our client, Reese Johnson, has agreed to terms with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL) for the 2019-20 hockey season.

Johnson, 20, will join the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL) for the remainder of their season, once his Western Hockey League (WHL) season comes to a close.

The Red Deer Rebels Captain is coming off yet another successful season, scoring 45 points in 62 games. His performance is part of a bigger story, one fuelled by perseverance and resilience.

In 2015-16, Johnson missed a little over half the season with a painful shoulder injury. The labrum tear required a difficult rehabilitation period, but Reese returned to the ice in the best shape of his career and was determined to make up for lost time. Yet another season-ending labrum tear meant that Reese did not register a single game in 2016-17.

Impressively, the Saskatoon native returned in 2017-18, posting 23 goals in 72 games.

"I truly admire Reese," stated Managing Director Michael O'Rafferty. "He is an impressive player and one of the most resilient athletes I have ever met. There have been countless roadblocks but with the support of his family (and brother Wyatt), he is now a member of a storied, original six team. Reese elicits respect and inspires others with his ability to endure adversity while keeping his spirits high . "
