Jake Lucchini Signs NHL Entry Level Contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins

For Immediate Release -

Penticton, BC (Canada) - For Immediate Release Penticton, BC - Kaizen Sports & Entertainment Ltd., is pleased to announce that college hockey client, Jake Lucchini, has agreed to a National Hockey League (NHL) contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Lucchini, 23, signed a one-year Entry-Level Contract (ELC) in light of his age, which will lead him into Restricted Free Agent (RFA) status on July 1, 2020.

The British Columbia native played junior hockey for his beloved hometown Trail Smoke Eaters of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). He later committed to the NCAA Michigan Tech Huskies, quickly becoming a topic of conversation across college hockey.

With over 100 college hockey points, Lucchini proved to be one of the Huskies’ all-time greats.

As Huskies’ Captain, Lucchini accepted an invitation in 2018 to the Penguins’ Development Camp and his dynamic hockey ability quickly made an impression. He was a clear fit for their team identity and culture.

With a professional contract in hand, Jake will report immediately to Pittsburgh’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins, who currently sit sixth in the Atlantic division.

He will return to Michigan Tech at the end of his AHL season to complete his Bachelor’s degree.

“Jake is a hockey player - pure and simple,”said Kaizen Managing Director Michael O’Rafferty. “He’s respected among his peers, and the coaching staff, for his extraordinary work ethic and how he treats others. Jake is highly-skilled and committed to maximizing his potential. It is not often you see players with his skill set put their bodies on the line the way he does. Every team needs leaders of Jake’s calibre to win championships.”
