Penticton, BC - Kaizen Sports Agency proudly announces that two of our clients, forward Carter Bear and goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen, have been selected in the opening round of the 2025 NHL Draft in Los Angeles on June 26,2025.
Detroit Red Wings Select Carter Bear – 13th Overall
Canadian forward Carter Bear (Everett Silvertips, WHL) was chosen 13th overall by the Detroit Red Wings. The 18-year-old from Winnipeg (6'0", 179 lb, shoots left) tallied an impressive 40 goals and 42 assists in 56 games during the 2024–25 WHL season, adding to a strong breakout season that earned him power-play proficiency and all‑star recognition.
Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman shared:
“We’re getting a very intelligent hockey player, extremely competitive… we think all of his game translates to the NHL… he competes hard, he’s a really good person.”
He added prowess as “a player that played in all situations” who impresses “when you go watch him play… you really appreciate the effort that he gave.” Draper's words underline Carter’s versatility and relentless drive.

San Jose Sharks Select Joshua Ravensbergen – 30th Overall
18‑year‑old Joshua Ravensbergen of North Vancouver (6'5", 190 lb, right-catching) was drafted 30th overall by the San Jose Sharks. In his 51-game season with the WHL’s Prince George Cougars, he posted a 33‑13‑4 record with a 3.00 GAA and .901 save percentage, ranking second in wins and third in appearances. As a rookie in 2023–24, he led WHL goalies in shutouts (6), added a 2.46 GAA and .907 SV%, and in the playoffs recorded a 9‑3 mark with three shutouts and a 1.98 GAA .931 SV%.
Sharks GM Mike Grier stated:
“The scouts have done their homework throughout the year and as we followed our board he was the best player available.”
